ABOUT SPITI VALLEY
Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley with an average annual rainfall of only 170 mm. It is located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means “The middle land”, because of the land between Tibet and India. Spiti valley is a gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation. Spiti forms part of the Lahaul and Spiti district. The sub-divisional headquarters (capital) is Kaza, Himachal Pradesh which is situated on the Spiti River at an elevation of about 2,950–4,100 m above mean sea level. The Spiti River rushes out of a gorge in the southeast to meet the Sutlej River. While an ancient civilization has survived for nearly a thousand years and has preserved its culture against the onslaught of modernity in Spiti. It was closed to the outside world for over 30 years, this ‘forbidden’ valley opened to foreigners only in 1992. With its
snow-capped barren brown mountains, turquoise rivers, monasteries and blue skies, Spiti is every photographer’s dream
This nine-day and eight-night photography workshop will not only enrich your LANDSCAPE AND ASTRO-LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS it will also help develop your knowledge of GOLDEN AND BLUE HOUR LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY, FOCUS STACKING, TIME BLENDING, EXPOSURE BLENDING, LIGHT PAINTING, TIME-LAPSE AND NIGHTSCAPES PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS. In this workshop, you will get some enviable pictures for your portfolio, and it will also be an incredible opportunity to interact and learn from your mentors.
In 2022 we have visited Spiti Valley via Shimla in this time we will start from Manali via Candratal. You will get all the details in route map and itinerary section.

Weather of Spiti Valley
The weather in Spiti during the month of May is quite pleasant. The average temperature of Spiti in May is 15 degrees Celsius and in June ranging between 15 to 20 degrees, during the daytime and during the night it remains from 5 to 0-degree Celsius. The weather is perfect to explore the tourist attractions of the place. However, the sun is really sharp during the day but cool breezes keep blowing. The warm weather during the night allows for the valley to shine brightly which is just beautiful and there is lush greenery as well.
